Costock Housing Needs Survey

Midlands Rural Housing in partnership with Rushcliffe Borough Council and Costock Parish Council completed a Housing Needs Survey in Costock during May 2008, to assess the housing need in the parish. As well as requesting specific housing information, the survey asks some general questions relating to the quality of life in the parish - CLICK HERE for full survey.

Speeding through Costock

The promised interactive speeding sign has now been installed and following representations from the Parish Council and others its effectiveness has been noticeably improved.  Any suggestions for further improvements would still be welcome.

New speed sign in Costock

It would help the Parish Council coordinate its feedback to Highways South if any comments from members of the village on the effectiveness of the sign on traffic speed could be made to the Clerk or any councillor.

The following response from Highways South to a letter from Costock parishioner Mr Lilley ( CLICK HERE for full update) demonstrates the difficulties the Parish council has encountered in previous attempts to improve the situation.

Two tragic accidents have occurred recently, one in Costock and one between Costock and East Leake

The parish council are supporting local residents in a campaign to introduce new traffic regulation schemes aimed at reducing the danger caused by speeding traffic along the road from the crossroads on the A60 to East Leake.

If you wish to support this campaign CLICK HERE for further details of who to write to and the points which the council believes need to be made.

Past experience has shown that several individual letters from concerned members of the public carry more weight than a single letter from the parish council

Councillor Everard Robinson - Role as a tree warden

The Tree Council Tree Wardens Scheme is a national force of local volunteers dedicated to their community’s trees in Town, city and countryside across the UK

The Tree Warden Scheme gives people who feel that trees matter an opportunity to:

  • Champion their local trees and woods
  • Play an active role in protecting and improving them.
  • Involve their neighbours in tree projects
  • Get together with like-minded people for training, field trips and practical
    activities.
  • The Tree Council, which launched the tree Warden Scheme in 1990, co-ordinates it in partnership with the National Grid and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, working with local authorities, voluntary organisations, parish Councils and Tree Warden networks.
